Mexico City Magic: My Long Weekend in CDMX
Hola from Mexico City! This vibrant metropolis recently stole my heart, I can’t wait to get back. Lucky for me, two of my best friends live in CDMX giving me an amazing reason to visit. I had my bachelorette party in CDMX last October, and was back again in April. I hope to be back this fall and explore even more of the magic. CDMX is inspiring a lot of what I bring into my concept shop, Realiti, and I’m elated to introduce one brand particularly - read until the bottom to learn what Mexico City brand I’m bringing to the US! Get ready for an explosion of culture, amazing food, and shopping that goes way beyond your average souvenir.
Things to do:
Casa Luis Barragan (Miguel Hidalgo): My friend, Veronica, introduced me to the magic of Luis Barragan and I’m so glad she did. This UNESCO World Heritage Site in Miguel Hidalgo is a must-see for any architecture lover. I also loved that Barragan’s family still occupies the home and gives the tours. The clean lines and pops of color will leave you breathless.
Where to eat:
Mexico City is a haven for your taste buds. Here are some highlights that will tantalize yours:
Ultramarinos Demar (Roma Norte): Fresh, delicious seafood (think: amazing Tuna Tostada) without the wait of Contramar (but Contramar is very much worth it - try to make a reservation)
Rosetta (Colonia Roma): Splurge on beautifully composed plates in a chic setting. Perfect for a special occasion.
Cantina del Bosque (San Miguel Chapultepec): An institution for a reason! Expect white tablecloths, families celebrating, and excellent service. Don't miss the tableside Caesar salad preparation - a delightful throwback.
Gonzalitos (Roma Norte): Your late-night taco savior. Grab some sidewalk seating and devour their delicious offerings.
Churreria El Moro (Condesa): End your day on a sweet note with churros and a trio of dipping sauces (dulce de leche, chocolate, and caramel, anyone?).
Chicuitito Cafe (Condesa): Have to give a shout to this little cafe I stumbled upon while meandering - they had delightful coffee in a cute setting. Very much like the coffee I’m used to from NYC - like Home Coming.
Where to Shop:
Mexico City has something for everyone, and shopping is no exception:
Smart Food (Condesa): Seems out of place on the list, but it’s nice to know where the good snacks and food items can be found! Stock up on healthy snacks for your Airbnb or just grab some gourmet goodies on the go.
Laguna Cyprien (Condesa): Luxury body products that will become your new obsession. Their hand soaps and lotions are incredible, and guess what? I'm bringing them to my shop later this month!
This is just a taste of the magic that awaits in Mexico City. From architectural marvels to culinary delights, this city has it all. Start planning your trip - you won't regret it!
